There are many times in my photography career where my job feels so surreal. I can’t help but wonder, “Is this really what I get to do for a living?!” Shooting Meredith and Derek’s engagement session at Bogus Basin definitely fell into that category! Meredith is a dear friend of mine. When she told me about Derek, I knew this was something special. I was incredibly honored when she asked me to capture their wedding day.

Meredith and Derek are so much fun to be around! Shooting their engagement session felt more like hanging out with a couple of friends. Being their photographer is far from feeling like their third wheel! We had an absolute blast chasing the sun for good shots down the mountain at Bogus Basin. Meredith’s giggles throughout the entire session made my day! The vibe was so lighthearted and carefree.

Shooting an engagement session together before the wedding is one way I love to connect with my couples before their big day. It allows us all to get to know one another better with no pressure. This is a huge stress reliever on the wedding day because we’ve already worked together beforehand! Shooting Meredith and Derek’s engagement session only solidified how stoked I am to photograph their upcoming wedding in Sun Valley. I clicked so well with this couple and shooting them felt so natural.

We ended their engagement session toasting a beer on the tailgate, surrounded by the beauty of Bogus Basin. I couldn’t help but think, “How is this my job?!” What an incredible thing it is to capture wonderful people in beautiful places to tell their story through my lens. It doesn’t get much better than this. Every new couple I get to shoot is a new adventure.

Meredith and Derek – thank you for the fun and laughter! Your engagement session was an absolute blast! I can’t wait to photograph your big day. I am so thankful you let me in to capture this incredible season of your lives. Being around you both, it’s easy to tell that a beautiful marriage is on the horizon for you. Congratulations on your engagement!
